Posting Best Practices

1    Capture The Buyer's Attention

Simple & easy to focus

Always have the buyer in mind as you snap your shots. Be sure they are properly lit from all sides so that no area is obscured and avoid harsh shadows on or around the item.

2    Indicate The Size Of The Item

If the scale of an item is hard to judge, its a good idea to put a recognizable object next to it. A hand is often used with small items to indicate its size in proportion to other common objects.

3    If There Is A Problem, Be Truthful

Include as much details in each photo as possible, especially if there's a problem. Buyers need to know if an item is cracked, stained, torn or chipped. Sellers who post a zoomed image of a small flaw often get feedback comments of "better than expected", when the item with its small imperfection arrives.

Those who try to hide or disguise damage in the photo risk receiving negative feedback from buyers, which may distrupt the sale or reduce confidence in future buyers.

4    Avoid Copying Images From Other Users

While you are learning to improve your photos, don't be tempted to copy images from other sellers. Not only will buyers notice but you could lose your mySimplifieds account and risk legal action. Have faith in yourself and your abilities, and buyers will too.

5    If Its New, Consider Using Original Photos

If you are reselling new goods, manufacturers and wholesalers often have professional, free product shots available on their websites or on request.
